Grief changes everything.

Not only how we feel, but how we think, sleep, work, make decisions, relate to others, and move through the world.

For many people, grief brings something else: a profound sense of invisibility. The world keeps moving while they are still trying to understand what happened. Friends stop asking. Conversations become uncomfortable. Support often fades long before grief does.

The Companion Series was created for those invisible grievers.

The goal is not to “move on.”

The goal is not to “get over it.”

The goal is to learn how to carry grief while continuing to live.

A Grief Curriculum

The Companion Series is a collection of workbooks, a course, workshops, and educational resources designed to help grieving people navigate life after loss.

Rather than focusing on a single stage, timeline, or theory, the series explores the many ways grief affects our lives and offers practical tools for understanding and responding to those challenges. It isn’t a memoir, a blog, or a support group — it’s a structured path through grief, built to be navigable.

A Grief Curriculum

Surviving the Unimaginable

Why This Work Exists

After the death of my wife, Cynthia “Cinci” Turnbull, I discovered that grief was far more complicated than I expected — and how easy it is for grieving people to feel invisible. Not because others don’t care, but because most people don’t know how to stay present with grief for very long.

I spent countless hours reading grief literature, attending support groups, and listening to experts. But I wasn’t just gathering information — I was trying to solve a problem: why does grief reach into every part of life, and how do you actually live alongside it, day after day?

What I couldn’t find was a practical framework for that. So I began building one — organizing grief not into stages or theories, but into something navigable. That framework became The Companion Series.

Over time, I realized many grieving people were struggling with the same questions:

•      Why does grief feel different from day to day?

•      Why does my body feel different?

•      Why can’t I think clearly?

•      Why do relationships change?

•      Why do ordinary tasks suddenly feel overwhelming?

•      How do I carry this loss and still build a meaningful life?

The Companion Series was created to help answer those questions — and to help grieving people feel seen along the way.

Who This Is For

This work is for anyone navigating the death of someone they love. Whether your loss happened recently or years ago, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or simply looking for language to describe your experience, you are welcome here.

Grieve your way.

Arrive however you are — overwhelmed, numb, or simply looking for words. You’re welcome here.

Why “Finding Your Way. Together.”

Because grief is personal. No workbook, course, speaker, therapist, or author can walk your path for you.

But none of us walks it completely alone.

My hope is that these resources help you feel a little less alone, a little more understood, and a little more seen.

Because grief is hard enough. You’re not alone in carrying it.
